Mission

To provide research and educational opportunities that enable the discovery, development and deployment of surgical research and scientists toward enhanced clinical solutions for the future. We are committed to the advancement of surgical science by integrating basic science into the orthopaedic clinical realm.

Resources

The Orthopaedics Research Laboratory is an 8,600 square foot, well-equipped lab staffed by orthopaedic surgeons, engineers, scientists and technicians. The laboratory includes:

  • Arthroscopy Wet Lab – equipped with Stryker arthroscopic system and access to fresh cadaver tissue
  • Cadaveric Teaching and Research Lab
  • BSL2 Cell Culture Lab
  • Histology Lab
  • Image Analysis Center – supports transmitted and reflected light microscopy with Optimus image analysis software, inverted stage microscopy, confocal microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
  • Microsurgery Lab
  • Molecular Biology Lab
  • Nanotechnology Lab – outfitted with state-of-the-art robotic equipment for performing nanotechnological techniques

The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory’s unique patient-based research approach provides research achievements and health-related outcomes.
